Daily Praise Offering for January 21, 2012

I worship, Lord, for you are righteous, you love righteousness, and you love when your people do what’s right. For Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Psalm 11:7, 33:5; Matthew 5:8).

Aren’t you glad Jesus never once said, “Blessed are the pure in performance and speech”? The old lyric reads, “faultless to stand before the Throne” which reassures me that when we’re finally Home, God will even out all of Life’s inequities. Until then, “Blameless” will have to do because “faultless” and Time just seem incompatible. Far too often, my daily doing and saying don’t rise to the level of faultlessness. My heart knows what I intend to do and say and can therefore be pure–but my mouth and my performance? ( Sigh . . . ) Of course, this means I must be ever so generous in applying that same truth to my brother and sister!
