My soul magnifies you, O Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. For you are the Mighty One and you have done great things for me; holy is your name. Your mercy is for those who fear you from generation to generation. You have shown strength with your arm; you have filled the hungry with good things. From you, O Bethlehem, shall come forth one who is to be ruler in Israel, and he shall stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God (Luke 1:46-47, 49-51, 53; Micah 5:2, 4).
