Heart of the Artist

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! (Psalm 57:5, 11).

I worship you, Lord, for you are the God who sends out your steadfast love and faithfulness. You save me from calamity (Psalm 57:3).

I worship you, O God Most High, for you fulfill your purpose in me (Psalm 57:2). 

I give thanks to you, Lord, for you are good; your steadfast love endures forever. This is the day you have made, O Lord. I rejoice and gladly thank you for this new day. You are my strength, my song, and my salvation. Jesus Christ is Lord of all! He’s the one you anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power to do good and to heal all who were oppressed by evil. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, but you raised him on the third day. I worship you, O Christ, for you are the one appointed by God to judge the living and the dead (Psalm 118:1, 14, 24; Acts 10:36, 38, 40, 42).

I worship you, Lord; you are a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me. For your name’s sake you lead me and guide me. I thank you, Jesus my Savior, for suffering in the flesh and saving me from sin (Psalm 31:2-3; 1 Peter 4:1).

I worship you, Jesus, for you bore our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed you stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But you were pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon you was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with your wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on you, O Christ, the iniquity of us all. You were oppressed and afflicted, yet you opened not your mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so you opened not your mouth. Thank you, Jesus, for it is by the blood of your great sacrifice that I am drawn near to God. I worship you, O God, for you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel (Isaiah 53:4-7; Psalm 22:3; Hebrews 10:19-22).

I love you, Lord, because you hear my voice and my pleas for mercy. You incline your ear toward me and are attentive to all my needs. As your humble servant, I offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call upon your glorious name. As the Son of Man washed the disciples’ feet, help me to glorify you by serving others (Psalm 116:1-2, 16-17; John 13:1-17, 31-35).

I praise you, Lord, for you are my soul’s refuge. In the shadow of your wings I take refuge (Psalm 57:1).

I worship you, Lord, for you have delivered my soul from death. You have rescued my feet from falling (Psalm 56:13).

I worship you, Lord, and put my trust in you. I will not be afraid; after all, what can people—mere mortals—do to me?(Psalm 56:11).
