Heart of the Artist

On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate, O Lord. I will declare your greatness, your goodness, and sing aloud of your righteousness, for you, O God, are holy (Psalm 145:5-7; 1 Peter 1:16).

Great are you, Lord, and greatly to be praised. Your greatness is unsearchable. Greater are you who is in me than he who is in the world (Psalm 145:3; 1 John 4:4).

I praise you, Lord, for you are good and upright. I can’t wait for the day when the Son of Man returns in a cloud with power and great glory (Psalm 25:8; Luke 21:27).

I extol you, my God and King. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. To you be the dominion forever and ever. Amen (Psalm 145:1-2; 1 Peter 5:11).

I will sing a new song to you, O God: Worthy are you, Lamb of God, to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made us a kingdom and priests to serve you and rule over the earth (Psalm 144:9; Revelation 5:9).

I sing praises to you, O Lord, and give thanks to your holy name for every good and perfect gift is from you (Psalm 30:4; James 1:17). 

When I meditate on all you have done, O Lord, contemplate the cross of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ponder the work of your hands, I can’t help but stretch out my hands to you in worship (Psalm 143:5-6; Galatians 6:14).

I worship you, Lord, for you are never oblivious to all I’m going through. When I am weak, anxious, confused, and feel alone, you are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. I don’t know how you’re going to answer my cries for help, but I’m confident you will because you are faithful. So I give thanks to your name even before my prayers are answered for I know you will deal bountifully with me as you have so many times before (Psalm 142; 1 Thessalonians 5:24).

I know that you uphold the cause of the afflicted and execute justice on behalf of those in need, O Lord. I give thanks to your name and for the privilege of dwelling in your presence, for it is through Jesus Christ that we draw near to God (Psalm 140:12-13; Hebrews 7:19).

I worship you, Lord, for you are my God, the one who listens to my pleas for mercy, the strength of my salvation, and the one who is with me through all of life’s battles. For I have received mercy so that in me Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life (Psalm 140:6-7; 1 Timothy 1:16).
